Foods that are not organic
are sprayed with pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
These chemicals are health and environmental hazards
that affect not only the growers, their families, and
the land and water, but also us - the consumer. This
doesn't make sense.
Organic agriculture focuses on building
healthy soil. Through the use of composting, intercropping,
natural pest controls, and other time-proven methods,
a whole system of compatible, sustainable agriculture
is used to grow healthy crops. |
These methods work in harmony with the cycles
of Nature, not against them, to preserve, protect, and replenish
the land without harming the water, air, animals or us.

We at Bohemian Baby™ believe that it
is particularly important to feed brand new eaters organic
foods, as pesticides and other harmful chemicals can be especially
hazardous to their delicate bodies. We also believe
the organic choice helps to sustain this earth so our babies
will have a beautiful environment in which to grow and play!
And it just tastes better! Fresh real food introduces
new eaters to the wonderful world of delicious tastes, new
textures and sensory aromas that you just cannot get from
jarred commercial baby foods. The one rule we
at Bohemian Baby™ live by is if we won't eat it ourselves,
we won't feed it to your baby!
To illustrate why we think it is so imperative
to our babies' health that they eat organic fruits and vegetables,
we refer you to the Organic
Consumers Association, and their compilation of government
issued facts, including:
*The U.S. Centers for Disease Control reports
that one of the main sources of pesticide exposure for U.S.
children comes from the food they eat.
* According to the Food and Drug Administration, half
of produce currently tested in grocery stores contains measurable
residues of pesticides. Laboratory tests of eight industry-leader
baby foods reveal the presence of 16 pesticides, including
three carcinogens.
*According to EPA's "Guidelines for Carcinogen Risk Assessment,"
children receive 50% of their lifetime cancer risks in the
first two years of life.
*In blood samples of children aged 2 to 4, concentrations
of pesticide residues are six times higher in children eating
conventionally farmed fruits and vegetables compared with
those eating organic food.
